Safe Online Habits Are Not Enough If you own a car, you probably know that routine maintenance is one of the most important tasks you should do. Owning a computer is a lot like owning a car. Sometimes problems can be found before they are costly, but you have to have the right tools (and people) in order to find the problems. Antivirus and malware programs are available for download on most internet-based devices. Many of them are free, but some consumers prefer to use programs that are subscription-based. A smart consumer does research before selecting an antivirus or malware program, just like you would do if you had a costly repair on your vehicle. The research you do regarding computer scanners is just as important as scanning your computer. It is possible to accidentally download a fake program that actually puts malware on your computer, and that is the equivalent of hiring a mechanic that creates more damage than he fixes. |
